“At the appointed time he shall return and go toward the south; but it shall not be like the former or the latter. For ships from Cyprus shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and return in rage against the holy covenant, and do damage. So he shall return and show regard for those who forsake the holy covenant. And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their god shall be strong and do exploits. And those of the people who understand shall instruct many; yet for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering. Now when they fall, they shall be aided with a little help; but many shall join with them by intrigue. And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time.” Daniel 11:29-35
Man is naturally a fearful, lazy and
ignorant being who sometimes without being forced want to avoid challenges, and
may not want to be confrontational with adversaries at any instances, and as Christians
we are not so much different from the rest of humanity in those flaws. However,
through histories Christians, either as a group or individual, have been found
to have achieved a number of considerable victories in every human endeavour,
but must of such victories were not without a backup force from God.
Today, it appears to me that many,
larger percent of Christians, have been much fearful than any time in the
history of man. We don’t want to cause ‘trouble’, not knowing that for trouble
we are called and think that victory in any way on earth is worldly, not
knowing that without it Christ Jesus, our Lord, will not be known. Failure to
manifest Christ Jesus in the physical gives devil an opportunity to present
himself as an angel of light. So our victories and achievements in any endeavour
are not worldly. However, such a belief that to achieve victories on earth are
worldly is not natural: they are mostly outcomes of the failed attempts of some
spiritual leaders who have failed to achieve certain things due to the facts
that God is not involved in the course, and in efforts to justify their failure
often come up with such ideologies and sayings that cover up God, Christian
ever faithful Confidant and Support.
In every instance, God wants us to
challenge and to achieve things and greatness for in them He is most glorified.
But these days, we do not only fail to achieve remarkable things as our old
faithful spiritual leaders, but we have also surrendered to enemies and prefer to
even join them in what they do because we are fearful and do not know our God. Apostle
Paul says to us in Ephesians 6:10, “Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. …that you may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” However, knowing God and
what He is capable of is one way we can be strong and stand to do great
exploits in the day of adversities we may be passing through as apostle Paul
said, “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not
ashamed, for I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED and am persuaded that HE IS ABLE TO
KEEP WHAT I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:12.
So
what are those things we should know about our Father, our God that will make
us strong and do exploit in our days? Consider the following:
·
He
is too faithful to fail. Unless He doesn’t send you. Unless you do not inform
Him before you start. Unless He doesn’t give you the go-ahead. Unless it is
towards a wrong motive. Unless you do not call to Him. Unless you are not
initially with Him. Unless it won’t glorify Him. Unless He considers it better
in another way different from your perspective.
·
He
is the alpha and the omega. “Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, when
the Lord has not commanded it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that
woe and well-being proceed?” Lamentations 3:37-38. Until God has spoken, no one
speaks. Until He says it is over, nothing is over, because there is none before
Him and after Him.
·
He
is stronger than anyone and has power over everything. He is the Controller-General
of everything in the universe. He brings great kings down to nothing, Daniel 4:19-37;
He renders might men useless, Samuel 17:34-54; He stops the earth from
rotating, Joshua 10:12-15; He makes fire lose its flame and heat, Daniel 3:16-30;
He stills the storm, Mark 4:35-41; He feeds thousands with one person’s meal,
Matthew 15:32-39; He divides water without containers, Exodus 14:10-31. Etc.
·
He
alone knows better and the best. Do you say you have a better plan? I bet you,
you don’t have a plan to become a nation. You don’t have a plan to control the
whole world, Revelations 5:10-11. Do you say you will better than the way you are
if you have some things? Then think of king Hezekiah, Isaiah 38;39. We don’t
know anything; we don’t have any better plan than God, Jeremiah 29.
·
He
loves all human beings, but He loves His own more. Proverbs 8:31.
Therefore, don’t stop doing the great
works you have at hand. Challenges will definitely come along your ways, but
you don’t have to let them stop you from achieving your goals because you have
known who is backing you up.
