THE TRUTH TO KNOW THAT WILL SET YOU FREE FROM DEVIL’S PUNISHMENT AND GOD’S ETERNAL TERRIBLE JUDGMENT
We human beings are all side pressed hard
by pain and fear that will just want to escape by all possible means. We want
to enjoy life and the same time win God’s favour. We all hate the devil and
love God, but we have not been to balance the equation as we constantly find
ourselves doing those things we know that make it seems as if we love the devil
and hate God, but when in actual sense it is other way round. So who shall set
us free from this looming destruction? Thanks to the TRUTH in Christ Jesus.
Meanwhile, as powerful and free truth
is, only few have been able to enjoy the value it offers. The greatest
statement and one major effect truth has been said to have on us is found in
the statement of Jesus Christ in John 8:30-36 that goes thus,
"As He spoke these words, many believed in Him. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." They answered Him, "we are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, "You will be made free?" Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." John 8:30-36

The major effect of truth is said to
have on us is that it will set us free. Freedom, however, is something that
majority of us think they have when it is only few human being – very few
number – that have it as we are all in one way or the other held in bondage to
something or someone, physically or spiritually or psychologically. Therefore,
we all need freedom somehow. From what are we to be set free? From sin? No, it
is from something much more than sin that you will discover later.
Meanwhile, the condition for this powerful
effect to manifest in our lives is that we will have to know the truth. The
question that comes with this then is, ‘What is truth?’ A dictionary defines
“Truth” as a fixed or established principle of law.” Someone I don’t really
know says these about truth, “Truth is far more than facts. It’s not just
something we act upon. It acts upon us. We can’t change the truth, but
the truth can change us. It
sanctifies (sets us apart) from the falsehoods woven into our sin natures.” And
I add this to it that truth on earth is anything that resonates with all human
being. It seems and appears alike to each and every one of us, regardless of
all our differences. It is views and beliefs that resonate with that of God. It
is actions that align with what has been done and which can never change.
Now, what warrants the writing of this
article is not that many don’t know truth as it is defined and explained above,
but that it seems not to have that effect on them as most people have not been
able to attain freedom from what seems to be causing them pain, grief, sorrow
and sadness of heart or spirit. So from what is truth to set us free that will
make us happy and joyful and free from devil’s punishment and God’s eternal
terrible judgment? From sin? No, I think it is from something much more than
it. Though a mere reading of the statement of Jesus makes it appear as if truth
is to set us free from sin. The reason for this is that many of us think that
sin is what we do when sin is actually the fruit of what we do. Take note of
the following apostles’ statements,
“All
things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful
for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” 1 Cor. 6:12
“But
each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then,
when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin…” James 1:14-15.
Etc.
Therefore, knowing the truth is not to
set us free from sin, but from what make us sin. Most of our actions of disobedience,
I mean most actions that violate the laws and wills of God, are what give birth
to what we call sin. Therefore, our freedom is from those thoughts, ideas,
beliefs, ideologies, mindsets, knowledge and understanding, and views that make
us want to challenge the reality of God on earth. Our actions are mainly
responses to those thoughts, ideas,… and views. Why? It is because they make us
sad or joyful. Whatever makes us sad or that will think make us happy, makes us
sin. Check it, you will realise that all your actions that have led you to sin
are mainly your responses to fear of either being sad or lost of joy. We don’t
want to be sad and we don’t want to lose our joy. We want to escape sadness and
we want to be joyful. And in our efforts to achieve these, we intentionally or
unintentionally ignore the laws and will of God along the way.
Devil will either take from you or make
a visible move as if he wants to take from you what you attach so much value to
in order to make you do something. Either of these moves will create fear in
you if you don’t know the truth, and anything you do in response to your fear
of losing that thing or that you might lose the thing will put you at the
danger of devil’s punishment and God’s eternal terrible judgment.
So where is the truth to set us free
from all these? Who does Jesus Christ say will make us free indeed? It is the
Son. Who is the Son? It is Jesus Christ. Who is Jesus Christ? The word of God,
according to John 1:14. So, is it just the Word of God that will set us free?
No; not just the Word, but the message and the content of the Word.
Many of us study the word and memorize
it, but don’t understand and make sense of all the things Jesus is actually
saying. When we sit down and learn of Jesus Christ (study His personal life,
statements and dealings), we will begin to see the contents of Jesus Christ,
the Word of God, as they aim to point to us some things that are not important,
but which we have been so committed to and some things that are very, very
important, but which fear has not allow us to make sense of and be cognizant
of. All we care about is just to escape our sadness, grief and pain and by
which we continue to embrace devil. So what is the truth that will set us free
from devil’s trap that will bring us to his punishment and God’s eternal
terrible judgment?
It is was the truth that Job knew that
set him free from devil’s trap which could have brought him to God’s eternal
terrible judgment.
The following are the truth to know that
will help you overcome:
·
Know
that you are always in the middle – some behind and some ahead. So you aren’t
the least and neither can be number one forever.
·
Know
that sooner or later nothing of this life will be mattered after achieving
them. Don’t for anything act stupidly.
·
Know
that no matter what done, death is certain for all of us. Stop going about
after those that are lying to you that by worshiping certain idols or eating
some things you can live forever.
·
Know
that in death all pains and sorrow or happiness and joy will come to an end.
Don’t be afraid of death.
·
Know
that there is an end to every action or state or condition on earth. No condition
is permanent. The highest number of year you can spend on earth is 120. So
there is hope of change. However, where you go after life is eternity: there is
no hope of change.
·
Know
that you can’t achieve everything you desire. No. No. It is not possible. Give thanks
if you achieve some. Let it go if you can’t achieve others. Don’t be strong
head; devil will take advantage of that.
·
Know
that God or whatever you called Him is more than anything or anyone. Do not
fear anyone, not even devil. Stay with God.
·
Know
that Christ Jesus has indeed paid for all your expenses on earth. If you
anything with your blood, you will die. He has done that for you.
·
Know
that the price of your freedom is your belief in Christ Jesus. Nothing else is
required of you to be saved, just your belief will do.
·
Know
that you are undergoing an heavenly assessment on earth. Everything we are
doing on earth is being recorded. Be cautious.
The above truth will set you free not
only from devil’s punishment and God’s eternal terrible judgment, but also from
the worries of life.
